Scenarios¶
Five short guided problems that run on top of the real Free Tune HUD. Each teaches one skill and builds on the one before.
What it is¶
From the main menu choose SCENARIOS. A scenario is a short guided problem on the real HUD: a coach
card spotlights the panel you need, a PREV / NEXT bar sits at the top of the viewport, and goals
complete automatically as you reach them.
Scenarios only edit tables and swap parts, and all of them work in the demo build.
The five scenarios¶
- First Start — a settings tour (OPTIONS, units), a cold start, the clutch, first gear, and a first full-throttle power pull.
- Won't Idle — a lean idle that hunts. Read λ, then raise the idle cells in the VE table.
- Running Rich — black smoke at cruise. Loosen the lambda target in the mid-load rows, and learn why 1.00 isn't right everywhere (naturally aspirated full load is about 0.85–0.90).
- Knocking — too much advance on 91 octane. Hear detonation, reset damage, and pull timing out of the top-right of the ignition table; learn MBT and margin.
- Make It Faster — fit five race parts (RACE DOHC 16V head, I4 Race DOHC cams, RACE short-runner intake, RACE 4-2-1 header, 285 cc injectors), set the working temperature, then re-tune VE using λ and fuel trim and do a pull.
Why it matters¶
Each scenario drills a skill you use constantly in Free Tune: reading λ against target, editing the VE and lambda tables, spotting knock, and re-tuning after a hardware change. Scenario 5 shows exactly the point of the VE table: after you change hardware, the table no longer matches the engine's real VE, and fixing that is the main thing there is to tune.
Rule of thumb
Work through the scenarios in order — each uses the skill from the one before.
