Options & Units

Units, camera, slider speeds, warm-up speed, wear rate, volume and graphics — everything you can change about how the game behaves and displays.

What it is

The OPTIONS page has four tabs: GAMEPLAY, CONTROLS, AUDIO and GRAPHICS. Settings are saved between sessions.

Units

Numbers on this wiki use metric units (kPa, °C, Nm, kW). In the game you can change every display under OPTIONS → GAMEPLAY → UNITS. Your tunes are unit-independent.

GAMEPLAY tab

UNITS. UNIT SYSTEM is Metric, Imperial or Custom. Then each quantity separately:

Setting Choices
MANIFOLD PRESSURE kPa / bar(a) / psia
BOOST / GAUGE PRESSURE (the gauge-pressure display) bar / psi / kPa
TEMPERATURE °C / °F
TORQUE Nm / lb·ft
POWER kW / hp / PS
MIXTURE λ / AFR

Tables, curves, gauges and the Setup stats all follow your units, and saved tunes are identical in any unit.

GENERAL. CAMERA SENSITIVITY, CURSOR SPEED (UI), INVERT Y AXIS, SHOW TOOLTIPS, and UI SCALE (0.5–2).

SLIDER RESPONSE. THROTTLE CHANGE RATE and LOAD CHANGE RATE, each 25–200 %/s, default 50. They set how fast W / S and the dyno's Q / A change their values.

ENGINE WARM-UP.

  • WARM-UP SPEED — 1×–10×, with "1.0x (realistic)" as the default. It scales heating and cooling, so the equilibrium temperatures don't change.
  • ENGINE WEAR RATE — OFF, 1×, 10× or 100× (logarithmic).
  • WARM ENGINE NOW → SET WORKING TEMP — puts all temperatures at operating values instantly.

CONTROLS tab

A read-only key list. See Controls.

AUDIO tab

MASTER, ENGINE, DYNO and STARTER volume.

GRAPHICS tab

FULLSCREEN, VSYNC, QUALITY LEVEL, SHADOW QUALITY and ANTI-ALIASING.

Why it matters

Several of these change how you tune, not just how the game looks: MIXTURE switches every λ display and the lambda table between λ and AFR; WARM-UP SPEED and SET WORKING TEMP skip the 15-minute warm-up; ENGINE WEAR RATE decides whether mistakes cost you parts (see Damage & Wear).

How to tune it

Pick units you think in, and leave the rest alone until you have a reason to change it.

Rule of thumb

Turn wear OFF while you learn, and use SET WORKING TEMP to skip the warm-up. Switch wear back on when you want mistakes to cost something.
