Engine Mounts¶
The blocks that hold the engine in the car. Soft, damped mounts isolate its shake; solid mounts transmit it but hold the engine still.
What it is¶
Engine mounts are the rubber or solid blocks that hold the engine in the car. Each mount set is described by its stiffness (N/mm), damping (0–1), natural frequency (Hz), the number of mounts, the type (rubber or solid) and the maximum rotation.
Why it matters¶
Mounts set how much of the engine's shake and torque-roll you see and feel:
- Soft, damped mounts isolate the engine from the car.
- Solid mounts transmit vibration but hold the engine still.
They affect the engine's visible motion in the viewport — second-order imbalance shows as vertical shake, and the firing-torque reaction as roll — strongest at cranking and low RPM. They are part of the audio/visual character of the build rather than its power.
How to tune it¶
Choose mounts for the character you want: isolation from the shake, or a stiffer, more connected engine. Mounts are an optional part and do not change power, fuel or damage.
